Overview

ibuildinpublic (“we”, “us”) operates ibuildinpublic.com and related domains, a platform for builders who share their work in public. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the service, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. Our Terms of Service govern your use of the platform.

Information we collect

Account information: email address, authentication identifiers from Supabase Auth (including sign-in with email or supported providers such as Google or GitHub), username, display name, timestamps showing you accepted the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at signup, and profile fields you choose to publish.

Usage and technical data: pages viewed, impressions and engagement metrics for your own content, interactions (follows, likes, comments, bookmarks, contact requests, and messages), IP address, browser type, device information, and server logs needed to operate, secure, and debug the service.

Content you submit: builder and product pages, experiences, help requests, involvement and contact messages, group chat messages, product feedback you collect on your pages, platform feedback you send to our team, and support email.

Waitlist and marketing: if you join the waitlist or subscribe to updates, we store your email and optional details you provide.

How we use information

Provide and improve the platform, including Feed and directory browsing, group chats, notifications, onboarding, Daily missions, and analytics shown to you about your own content when your plan includes them.

Authenticate users, maintain sessions, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Communicate with you about your account, security, and product updates you opt into.

Measure aggregate site usage and performance through privacy-oriented analytics (see Cookies and analytics below) to understand how the product is used and where to improve it.

Service providers

We use trusted infrastructure providers to run the platform. They process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards:

Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.

Vercel — hosting, Vercel Web Analytics (aggregate page views), and Vercel Speed Insights (real-user performance metrics).

Plausible Analytics — optional, privacy-friendly analytics when enabled for our domain.

Stripe — payment processing for Premium subscriptions and any paid add-ons we offer.

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

Published profile and community content is visible to other users and the public as described in the product.

We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the service.

Retention

We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to operate the service.

If you request deletion, we will remove or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, subject to backups and legal retention requirements.

Your choices and rights

You control what you publish. Unpublished drafts and private account fields stay out of public view.

You may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing support@ibuildinpublic.com.

You can opt out of non-essential marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Contact us at support@ibuildinpublic.com to exercise these rights.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, and security. These are required to sign in and use the platform.

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to collect aggregate page-view and real-user performance data (sent to Vercel analytics endpoints). This helps us understand traffic patterns and improve site speed. These tools do not use cross-site advertising cookies.

When configured, we may also use Plausible Analytics, which collects aggregate usage data without cross-site tracking cookies.

Analytics runs for all visitors so we can measure and improve the service consistently. We describe our use of analytics here for transparency; essential auth cookies cannot be disabled while using a signed-in account.

Visitors in the European Economic Area may see a dismissible cookie and analytics notice on first visit. Dismissing it stores your choice locally; it does not turn off essential sign-in cookies or aggregate analytics.

You can manage non-essential browser cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in.
